Making concrete blocks

Manufacturing of Cement Blocks by Probrick

At Probrick we pride ourselves at building and paving cape town homes. Our Blocks are really necessary as a construction material.  There are necessary steps that are normally followed during the manufacturing of blocks. It is worth noting that concrete blocks are easy to make and one can easily turn it into a private business. For some who value the art of saving money, it is possible to come up with your own techniques of making simple concrete blocks instead of going for professional help. Some of the main materials that you will need in order to kick off this process include clean sand, cement, concrete mixer, slump cone, trowel, molds and a scraper.

                                            Blocks and paving

There are few necessary steps that will be needed in order to get the whole job done; first of all, the concrete molds should be set up in the shape in which you want the blocks to appear like. There are many block outlets where one can easily purchase the molds. Alternatively, an individual can also choose to come up with his own simply by using bricks as the models.

The main role of the concrete mixer is to ensure that cement and sand have been mixed thoroughly. There is a specific ration in which everything should be done. After this process, the crushed limestone should be added. In some cases, gravel can replace the limestone. However it should be added in minimum quantities since too much gravel will actually bring out an inconsistency mixture.

Water should then be added and continuous stirring should follow till the right form of consistency has been achieved. This should be done for some minutes till there is a thorough consistency. In order to remove the concrete blocks and from the mold, it is necessary to spray with a water releasing agent. The concrete should then be poured in the mold and the air bubbles should be eliminated. It normally takes around 24 hours for the concrete to harden, at this point; it should be removed from the mold. The blocks can then be used to make more blocks.

This is an automated process that is cost effective and worth it since it will save time as well. Blocks generally have to be hardened before they are finally released in any working site. The sides can be smoothened into various designs and with the help of the concrete mortar, the needed length and height as well will be formed. Concrete mortar has had a long history and was commonly hused by the Romans to bind stones that were used in constructing of buildings. Nowadays the shapes and designs of these blocks have been modified in order to come up with a desirable visual effect and also for specific applications like prevent the leakage of water on exterior walls.
